Frequently Asked Questions

Program

Our mission is to empower kids through soccer and sports by teaching them how to have fun while learning the fundamentals. We use soccer to nurture, build self-confidence, and develop teamwork in a positive environment.

There are several aspects of Soccer Stars that makes our program unique and stand out from other youth sport providers:

– Low kid-to-coach ratio. This allows each player to receive individual attention during class and advance at their own pace.
– Age-specific curriculum. Some programs tout this feature but then group multiple age groups together during the early childhood classes. This is not the Soccer Stars way. In our youngest classes, your child will play with other children who are within 1 year of their own age and have specific lesson plans built to their developmental needs. Our older players will also enjoy playing with other children of a similar age during their classes.
– Crib-to-College Player Pathway. Starting with our Parent & Me classes at the age of 12mo+ and leading to our high school travel teams, Soccer Stars can support your player at every stage of their soccer journey. Here is what our player pathway looks like:
     > Parent & Me – Ages 12mo to 3
     > Super Soccer Stars – Ages 3 to 12
     > Soccer Stars United Development – U5 to U12
     > Soccer Stars United Travel – U8 to U18
– Highly trained and certified coaches, with ongoing training. We employ the best youth soccer coaches in the country. What makes our team so great is our ongoing coach training and certification. Each season, every coach is reviewed multiple times by our Coaching Department to make sure all coaches are up to date with the latest trends and information. We also incentivize our coaches to reach higher levels of coach status within the company, through specific goal-setting and national certifications.

Absolutely not. Whether a beginner or ready for competitive play, Soccer Stars has a program that is appropriate for your child. Many of our program ages overlap so that you and your child can be comfortable with the level of play during your session. Here is an overview of our program offerings:

     > Parent & Me – Ages 12mo to 3: A pre-soccer music and movement program for toddlers ages 1-2. This fun-filled class – taught by experienced instructors and their puppet friends, Mimi and Pepe – focuses on balance, coordination, upper and lower-body exercises, cognitive skills, and more.

     > Super Soccer Stars – Ages 3 to 12: The classic youth soccer program that teaches the fundamentals of the sport in a fun, non-competitive, educational environment. Our unique curricula use positive reinforcement and a low child-to-coach ratio to make sure each child feels supported and confident in his or her own abilities, allowing kids to improve at their own rate.

     > Soccer Stars United Development – U5 to U12: Development is the natural continuation and advanced program of Super Soccer Stars. Players are gradually introduced to new technical skills, tactical elements, and team concepts as they improve soccer skills and reach program milestones.

     > Soccer Stars United Travel – U8 to U18: A soccer program unlike any other, with a philosophy centered on providing a nurturing yet challenging environment that encourages every player to express themselves, be creative and take educated risks on the field. The program focuses on developing character, communication, game insight, technique, and fitness skills.

Soccer Stars offers a truly crib-to-college player pathway starting with our Parent & Me program for ages 1-3 years old, Super Soccer Stars for ages 3-12 years old, and Soccer Stars United Development and Travel programs for ages U5-U18.

Class Time Lengths based on Age Range:

>Ages 12mo to 3: 30 minutes

>Ages 3 to 4: 45 minutes

>Ages 4 to 5:  50 Minutes

>Ages 5 to 12+:  60 Minutes

At Soccer Stars, we use the soccer ball as the vehicle to help children not only improve their soccer skills, but develop self-confidence and physical literacy, improve gross motor skills, and hone socialization skills. Dynamic coaches work with small groups of boys and girls to develop these skills and teamwork in a fun, non-competitive, educational environment. Each week we focus on learning a new skill with fun activities and drills.

In-Person Programs – We typically bring all the equipment for your class to run smoothly. However, in the current climate, we are asking children to bring their own soccer ball to class to limit the touchpoints of our players.

Digital Programs – No equipment, no problem! While our coaches may use a soccer ball and cones, they will also suggest a variety of household items that can be used for each lesson.

Soccer Ball – Any round ball, rolled up pair of socks, paper & tape ball

Tall Cone – water bottle, plastic cups, lego tower

Flat Cone – plastic bowl, small pillow, folded towel

Spots – Paper plate, shirt, piece of paper

Goal – Cardboard box, laundry basket, pair of sneakers against the wall

Most importantly, your child should be comfortable. Seasonally appropriate athletic wear is recommended, with secure footwear required (lace-up or velcro – nothing that will slip off their feet or that has exposed toes). If a shirt or jersey was included with your enrollment, we also recommend you wear it to class each week. Children are asked to bring a water bottle to class as well.

While all equipment is normally provided, we are currently asking children to bring their own soccer ball to class in an effort to limit touchpoints amongst each participant.

Yes! While our earliest Soccer Stars will focus on the “Big Kick” at the end of each class, for Ages 3+ scrimmaging and small-sided games will be an important part of the curriculum. This allows children to absorb lessons from class and attempt to apply them in a game scenario. We believe our younger players need a pressure free environment to thrive, so keeping track of score and using goalkeepers will not be a focus until later in the player development.

Consistency is important in a child’s level of comfort and development from week to week. As such, we strive to maintain the same coach every week in your class. However, there are instances when a coach will have to be substituted in a class, whether due to illness or other issues.

It is our philosophy that “you know your child best”. While our classes are designed as separation classes, we leave the level of participation to your discretion. We do ask, however, that your participation does not disrupt the flow of the class at any time. Therefore, we are very flexible with respect to parent or caregiver participation in our programs – especially in classes with younger children. Some children do better with a mom, dad, grandparent or nanny around, even helping them with some drills; some fare better when they are left alone.

Through our crib-to-college player pathway, we offer both a FUNdamental recreational learning program, as well as elite-level play led by highly trained and certified coaches. Super Soccer Stars represents our recreational program, while Soccer Stars United is our development and competitive program.

Yes! Depending on your region, our Soccer Stars United program offers both a development program and a competitive travel program.

Soccer Stars United Development program runs from U5-U12 and our travel program runs from U8-U18.

Yes, our programs are co-ed unless otherwise noted in the class description. As the majority of our programs are instructional in nature, we believe that there is a greater benefit to co-ed learning and social development.

We do not have open enrollment classes available yet but can put together a private group for you. Please fill out our Private Class Form to set up a class.

Yes! Our Soccer Stars @HOME Virtual Classes will take learning to the next level, with fully interactive sessions using Zoom screen share. We literally bring our physical location classes straight to your computer or smart device! Through our digital classroom, children can see their teammates and work directly with their coach. You will have the ability to ask direct questions and screen share with the coach for individual instruction. There will also be an opportunity for your coach to assign activities to keep the fun going after class, like building your own soccer goal box, and beat-the-coach games.

Soccer Stars @HOME was developed with small spaces and equipment challenges in mind. All virtual classes can be run in a 5’x5′ area, using local household items as equipment if needed.

Virtual classes are a great way to build skills and experience our best-in-class curriculum kin areas that we are currently not offering in-person classes. It is also the perfect way to check out our classes from home before registering for an in-person class. Visit our FREE TRIAL page for more information.

Yes! At select locations during the start of a new season, or at the launch of a new location, a free trial class may be offered for parents to bring their soccer stars to see our curriculum and coaches in action. Visit our Class Search page and look for demo classes in your area!

Yes. We love it when we can have more family members to join our programs. Please text “Siblings” to (732) 314-6262 to receive the sibling discount code for use at check out. It will be for 5% off the class price for every enrolled child in your family. Discount is not applicable for monthly billing.

Due to the nature of our age-specific program, there may be instances where your child might fall between 2 different age groups, especially during the early childhood ages of 3-6. Our program focuses on certain developmental milestones, not necessarily the size and height of the child, to determine class placement. While we generally suggest enrolling in the earlier age group within the overlap for new players, our coaches can evaluate your child and make recommendations and help facilitate if moving up to the next age group would be appropriate.

If a program displays “Save My Spot” or ” Join Waitlist”, that means that particular class spots are full, but a spot may open up. Because the waiting list is first-come, first-serve, we highly recommend that you complete the waiting list registration form to reserve a spot in case of an opening. There is no obligation and you will not pay for the registration at that time. If a spot opens up, you will be contacted and full payment will be expected to secure your spot.

Congratulations! You will receive a confirmation email that your application has been received, and a second email once your application has been processed. You are not formally enrolled until your application has been processed. You will have received a class confirmation or first class email detailing information on your class location, where you will meet the coach. However, if you want a more specific Map pin, on the website you will find a location link in blue under your class.

We offer two free make-ups that must be approved and scheduled by the Super Soccer Stars office. We do not offer make-ups for the first or last week of the season, and make-ups cannot be scheduled in classes that are sold out. You may schedule additional make-ups for a $30 fee per class. All make-ups must be scheduled and canceled a minimum of 24 hours before the class in question. If you do not alert our team about a cancellation 24 hours ahead of time, this will be considered as a “used” make-up session. Make-ups do not transfer between seasons, so be sure to contact our office ahead of time if you know you will be missing a class later in the season, as we can schedule make-ups in advance. ALL MAKE UP CLASSES WILL BE SCHEDULED FOR A VIRTUAL CLASS.

Yes! You can transfer into any class/location for the same age group that works for you and your Soccer Star. Any difference in pricing can be charged/credited as appropriate. The Customer Advocacy Team will be available to assist.

It is common for many children to have a “warming up” period when starting a new class or with a new coach. If your child is having any issues, please communicate with us and we will do everything in our power to help with their adjustment. Sometimes it might be as simple as making the coach aware so they can provide some extra attention. Depending on the situation, it may be best to move the child to a different class, which we are also happy to help facilitate.

For Subscription Services, you may cancel Subscription at any time (unless otherwise indicated in an enrollment agreement for such Subscription) with the cancellation taking into effect at the end of the billing cycle during which we receive your notice of cancellation. IMPORTANT: To prevent ongoing billing please contact Soccer Stars directly to ensure you’ve formally withdrawn from the class.
